This two-day advanced workshop assumes substantial prior experience and knowledge of WUFI and THERM software.

Prudence and Ryan are both experienced Certified Passive House Consultants and PHIUS CPHC instructors.

WUFI Segment Overview
This portion of the workshop will focus on hygrothermal results analysis and Passive House assemblies. We will begin with a very brief review of the physics behind WUFI as pertinent to understanding its outputs. Hands-on Passive House assembly construction and in-depth results analysis will follow. Assembly construction and results interpretation will focus on using WUFI as a problem-solving tool and comparative analysis tool.
THERM Segment Overview
•The THERM portion of the workshop will teach a methodology of calculating thermal bridges (using THERM and Excel) for use in the PHPP. Topics include:
•Use of a theoretical approach to thermal bridging in regards to Passive Houses and the PHPP
•Use of a thermal bridge protocol and calculator
•Overview of THERM software - inputs and outputs
•Example exercises of various building envelope connections
•Optimization exercises of various details
•Unique cases: windows and doors, point thermal bridges, varying ground plane conditions

Technology Requirements
Trainees must supply their own laptops, and must install two pieces of free software before class. These programs are compatible with the Windows only.
Mac users need to purchase and install VMWare Fusion, Bootcamp or Parallels, along with a Windows operating system. VMWare Fusion is recommended.
